I bought this device because I liked the straightforward design that didn't have a hinge lid, and because it measured to .01 rather than just .1. Also, the price was definitely right as it was only $10. It comes with two lids, one which goes over the metal scale area and then a larger one that you then set the whole scale down into so that, between the one on top and the one on the bottom, the entire scale is enclosed and protected.
